SPECIAL LECTURE No. 1
"Big History and Biodiversity"
Tatsuo MOTOKAWA
(Professor Emeritus, Tokyo Institute of Technology)
Transcript
Professor Emeritus Motokawa polished his transcript.
Motokawa argues that to protect biodiversity, we need to employ broad egoism within which "self" includes its ancestors, descendants, and environment. Then he compares the design of civilization with that of living organisms. Lastly, he warns that modern civilization destroys our biological time as our environment and it is the ultimate cause of all of the environmental problems.
